Leaving on a Jetplane

It's almost time to go for my so-called "In-laws". I hope they had fun here in the Philippines. Actually, my fiance's father had already gone home and I got to meet him the first time since me and my fiance got together almost nine years ago. It was a mix of fear and fulfillment and I feel I know my fiance better now because I saw in her many characteristics of her father which makes her unique to me.

My fiance's sister, Abie, stayed here three months with her daughter Jastyne. I will miss both of them specially the little one because of her never-ending "Kanino ito???" and "Saan tayo punta?" questions. I am very glad that I we are already cloe because when she arrived 3 months ago, she wouldn't even touch me because she's scared of me.

Along with them is my fiance's mother, Tessie, who recently had her 60th birthday. It was fun as we tried to make it a 60's theme party. Almost everyone wore 60's inspired costumes and hairdo. This was also due to the persuasion of my fiance because we all know that whenever there is a theme party, her cousins and aunts make it a point to dress for fun. I, personally had a skinny pants with pointed shoes, flower shirt and a Buddy Holly inspired glasses. I even invited my mom and dad and told them to dress as well which they did. My dad even won the best costume price for wearing a punk-rock style attire that is reminiscent of Mike Hanopol of the Philippines. There was a lot of 60's music, from Elvis to Sinatra to the Beatles which is my peronsal favorite.

It is always like a party whenever some folks of my fiance from the States come home for a vacation. Almost every week there would be get-togethers and outings. The best part is what we call "sessions". Of course, beer for the guys and lots of laughs.

As a way to say goodbye to my in-laws, I dedicate this song and may they have a safe trip.

All my bags are packed I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin' it's early morn
The taxi's waitin' he's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could die

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
